Nevershoutnever

BAND BIO & INFO

“Nevershoutnever” is the well-known stage name for the artist Christofer Drew Ingle. He began making music in 2007, when his first exposure was through the internet gaining success on My Space. In 2008 he became the top unsigned seller with the album The Yippee EP, selling over 11,400 copies on Smart Punk. This album was the follow up of his first attempt, demo-shmemo which was recorded by Chistofer Drew single-handedly in his basement recording studio. Later in 2008 he went on to perform his single BigCityDreams when he was featured on TRL. During the fall of 2008 he toured with Hellogoodbye and Ace Enders. He started a second tour in late February of 2009 with the bands, The Scene Aesthetic, The Honorary Title and The bigger Lights. Later he toured with such bands as Forever the Sickest Kids, The Cab, We the Kings and Mercy Mercedes, among others in the spring of 2009, this was for The Bamboozle Roadshow 2009. He participated in both The Bamboozle Left 2009 and The Bamboozle 2009. On June 23rd of 2009 he released The Summer EP, which included his single “Happy” as the first song that was released on iTunes March 3rd, 2009. There was an announcement on May 29th, 2009 that after a major-label bidding war he had signed with Warner Bros. Records. He will continue to run and release his music on his own imprint label, Loveway Records, as part of the contract with the company. His debut mini-album What is Love? Was produced by Butch Walker.

The month of October 2010, was the time when Cristofer made the announcement with Phoenix New Times that he wanted to rid himself of the name “NeverShoutNever” and switch to “Christofer Drew and the Shout” his reasoning being that he was “sick of this band and the negative connotations with the band.” He also wants to switch from his regular acoustic music to a more “feel-good rack-n-roll” sound.

November of this year NeverShoutNever did a tour with The Maine. They gathered food cans

to help those in need. To say thanks to their fans, The Main and NeverShoutNever realeased “Split-EP”. Since December 21st, 2010 it has been available free on NeverShoutNever’s website.

Christofer Drew is strictly vegan. His career in music made him drop out of high school, Joplin Senior High, before his graduation.

The touring members with Christofer, when the band is referred to as “The Shout” includes: Caleb Denison on lead guitar, Nathan Ellison on drums, Taylor McFee on bass, Dustin Dobernig on keyboards and violin, and Hayden Kaiser on percussion, tambourine, djembe, and xylophone.

STYLE:

Christofer Drew’s style is more of an acoustic sound than anything. There is an aspect of pop linked in with his music, and some indie. He can use aspects of rock or pop/rock as well. He mixes genres a lot and creates his own unique sound.

WHY I LIKE NEVERSHOUTNEVER:

I personally like NeverShoutNever because it is a completely different style of music. Christofer Drew writes simple songs, and the way he puts together lyrics sounds like he’s just voicing his thoughts. The words sound effortless, not like he was trying to impress anyone with big and deep words. My favorite line in all of the work he’s done is, “Ya I have friends and they have friends and they have parties and I’m so awkward.” It’s from the song Coffee and Cigarettes. I love this part, because he’s simply stating a fact, and the way he says it is just completely different from any other artist. Christofer Drew is completely unique in his mixture of acoustic music, being a vegan and at the same time being a screamer. Christofer drew can play multiple instruments including, the banjo, the ukulele, the harmonica, the guitar, the piano, he also sings and he can scream. His talent is incredible. His music isn’t incredible because he can play all these instruments, but because of the songs he writes with them.

Christofer Drew is also very different in the way that in one of his albums he has the list of lyrics with the CD, but unlike all the others bands he put in the chords so anyone could learn his songs. He isn’t vain with his music; in some of his music videos he’s not even present. The points of his music videos are to entertain, or to show a point, not to show his face.

Christofer Drew also switches from different genres of songs all the time. In one song he might sing a soft song with a uke or a guitar, and in another one he might try his luck with techno. He’s not afraid to try new things with his music.

His music feels really real when you hear it. It sounds like something a lovesick person wrote about how they really felt at that moment. Through his songs he conveys his messages incredibly clearly for example in the song Liar Liar he says, “You got it all down got it all down down to a science, breakin’ hearts is what you do for fun, little one, but see I wrote it all down wrote it all down into a song ill break your heart in just 3 minutes now look who won.” His lyrics are easy to understand and feel what was going through his head at the time.

All in all I think Christofer Drew is an incredible performer, and his live videos and performances are incredibly funny and entertaining. I think he’s an amazing musician and should be way more well-known than he is.
